Who am I and why am I in IACC .

My name is Barry and I’m 30 and I’m originally from Dublin. I’m currently in my 1st year of my dietetics degree in GCU. I graduated in 2012 with a degree in Physiology but due to the lack of jobs and interesting opportunities, I became an ESL teacher and moved to Slovakia in January 2013. I lived and work in Bratislava, Slovakia until July 2019 when i moved back to Dublin for 2 months and moved in Glasgow in August 2019.

So why did I pick IACC??? There are a few reasons

I’m an avid reader and I have a keen interest in popular psychology – mindset, cognition, habits etc. Through that I came across books about tax havens, inequality and historical social changes.

I’m also a big fan of documentaries. The 2008 financial crisis had a huge impact on me directly and also on my city and country. I’ve watched a couple of documentaries about the economic systems, the 2008 crisis and other similar topics. Through these documentaries I’ve watched some documentaries about various social innovations that are happening around the world

And finally, I’m a big believer in reading or learning something new because it can change your point of view or it can help you problem solve something in the future
