Today we covered what makes a problem a wicked problem and various types of wicked problems that exist.
This was a really interesting class, we did a group activity and brainstormed words/ideas that were connected to 4 different pictures. Our group were quite creative and it was interesting to hear the different ideas and stories that came out from these 4 pictures. What made the most impact on me was the characteristic of a wicked problem is that when you do an intervention you can’t learn from it by trial and error. As a former scientist, trial and error is a huge part of science experiments. I’m wondering in the future with the increase of AI and computer modelling and predicting will it help us come up with a “suitable” intervention.
I am currently doing a inter professional module, which puts student dietitians, nurses, social workers and physiotherapists together in teams. Each week we have a 2 hour class, where we discuss a certain aspect of inter professional practice – roles in a team, communication, barriers to team performance etc. My group is good, however the way the class is run, could be better. When I reflect on that class with the IACC class,I feel I spent my time better at IACC.
